Hi Ed, The town you want is Merthyr Tydfil not Myrtha Tydfil. I know that lots of the early immigrants couldn't read or write very well and I am sure thier descendents spelled ltc form things the way they heard them, but spelling things correctly may help you find things that much more quickly. As for Cilmaenllwyd it would be the farm or property name and not a town. You refer to most places as towns and this is not strictly correct. Even now most places in Wales are villages and only really big places sucha as Swansea or Cardiff are towns. Wales remains very rural and as such the towns are few and far between. I shall have a look in my Carmarthen records to see if I can find anything for you. Did you know that Llwyd or Lloyd is Welsh for Grey? Hope this helps!! Sian 7 April 2010 15:46
